I’m a massive nerd. I love gadgets, but as I’ve gotten older I’ve found that technology really has to make an impact on my life for me to give it the time of day.

Aside from doing the obvious stuff like playing music I love, I recently discovered my Amazon Dot can help me tune my guitar, and act as a metronome!

Check out these skills (you might think of them as app), if you already have a dot or echo.  They are completely free and can be really useful for tuning your instrument, or using as a metronome while practising.

Guitar Tuner

by David D’Agostino

This works brilliantly for hassle free tuning, just ask for the note you want to tune, and Alex will play each string individually as a reference for you to tune too.

Guitar Metronome

by Andrew Bergstrom

A small bug bear of mine is juggling a metronome, either stand alone, or via a Phone app. When I discovered this skill I absolutely fell in love. I can sit on my sofa, and just ask for the beats per minute I’d like to practise too. I love it – well worth checking out!

You can read more about it here.

Are there any Alexa Skills you’re using that you love?  Please leave a comment and let me know so I can check it out!
