Taking an indefinite hiatus from guitar teaching
Taking an indefinite hiatus from guitar teaching
This is a quick update for anyone currently learning with me (or considering lessons).
I’ll be taking an indefinite hiatus from guitar teaching.
All lessons already booked up to 31 January 2026 will still go ahead as planned.
After that date, I won’t be continuing regular weekly slots or taking on new students for the time being.
How this affects current and new students
1) If you’ve just booked your first lesson
If you’ve recently booked and haven’t started yet, you may prefer to begin with a tutor you’ll be able to continue with long-term.
Because of that, you’re eligible for a full refund if you’d like to cancel.
2) If you already have lessons booked (up to 31 January 2026)
Nothing changes: your lessons will still happen at the scheduled times.
3) If you (or your child) have a lesson package
Wherever possible, I’d like to make sure all remaining package lessons are delivered by 31 January 2026.
If that’s realistic with your availability, we’ll get everything scheduled in and completed before then.
If it isn’t realistic (for example because of school terms, travel, shift work, etc.), that’s completely fine —
I’ll work with you to make sure you receive what you’ve paid for, even if we need to handle remaining lessons beyond that date in some form.
The important thing is that nobody loses out.
Why I’m doing this
Teaching has been genuinely important to me. Watching students grow — whether it’s a first chord, a first full song,
a confidence breakthrough, or finally understanding a theory concept that’s been frustrating for months — has been one of the most rewarding parts of my week.
And selfishly, it’s also made me a better musician; you’ve helped me see music through a fresh lens more times than I can count.
Over the last three years, my day job has expanded significantly. I now work a 9–5 as a Technology Director, managing teams across the UK, Sweden, and the US,
and I’m responsible for developing and executing our technology strategy. Alongside that, I’m active in two bands.
On the personal side, my mum is recovering from cancer.
I love teaching, but I’ve reached a point where I need to be kind to myself, protect some headspace, and create more room to properly handle everything.
I hope you understand.
What to do next
If you’re a student (or parent/guardian) and you need to sort anything out, the easiest thing is to contact me with one of the following:
- New booking + prefer to cancel: request a refund
- Already booked until 31 Jan 2026: no action needed (your lessons still go ahead)
- Lesson package: tell me how many you have remaining and your availability so we can plan scheduling
If you’re unsure which category you fall into, just send a quick message — I’ll help you figure it out.
Thank you
Thank you for trusting me with your (or your child’s) learning. I’m truly grateful.
If and when I’m ready to return to teaching, I’ll post an update here.
